Wrist Guards for Skating Australia
Wrist guards are the single most important piece of protective gear for any new skater. When you fall — and you will fall — the natural instinct is to put your hands out to break the impact.

Without protection, this is the fastest route to a broken or sprained wrist. A wrist guard with a solid splint plate redirects that force through the guard instead of through your bones.
This is not optional gear. If you're new to skating, wrist guards go on before you go outside. No exceptions.
What to Look for in Wrist Guards
Splint plate — the rigid plate on the palm side of the guard is what does the actual work. It needs to be solid, well-positioned, and stay in place during a fall. Cheap wrist guards have flexible or poorly positioned splints that move under impact. Brands like 187 Killer Pads, Triple Eight, and ProTec are trusted because their splint construction is engineered for actual falls.
Fit and coverage — the guard should wrap firmly around your wrist and extend down to cover the heel of your palm. Too loose and it shifts on impact; too tight and it restricts movement and circulation.
Under-glove compatibility — some wrist guards are slim enough to wear under skating or winter gloves. Useful for outdoor skating in cooler weather.
For Kids
Kids' wrist guards are sized specifically for smaller hands and wrists. Make sure you're buying kids-specific sizing — adult smalls are not the same fit as purpose-built kids guards.
