      Skate Helmets Australia

A helmet is the most important piece of gear you own. Whether you're at a rink, a skate park, or cruising the streets, protecting your head isn't optional. The good news — modern skate helmets are lighter, better ventilated, and better looking than ever.

      Multi-Impact vs Single-Impact Helmets

This is the most important thing to understand when buying a skate helmet. Single-impact helmets (like most bike helmets) use foam that compresses once and is then compromised — they need replacing after any significant impact. Multi-impact helmets use a different foam compound (like EPS Fusion from S1) that can absorb repeated lower-force impacts without degrading. For skating — where falls are frequent and repeated — multi-impact certified helmets are the right choice.

The S1 Lifer is widely regarded as the best multi-impact skate helmet available. Up to 5x more protective than non-certified foam helmets and certified to CPSC, CE, ASTM and Australian Standards. It's what we recommend for most skaters.

ProTec Classic is a heritage helmet design that has been refined over 40+ years. Australian Standards certified, well-ventilated, and trusted by skaters across every discipline from skateboarding to roller skating.

      Helmet Sizing

Measure the circumference of your head approximately 2cm above your eyebrows. Helmets should fit snugly without any movement when you shake your head — not so tight it causes pressure points, not loose enough to shift. Most brands size XS through XL and provide circumference guides. When in doubt, come into the Richmond store and try one on.

Most rinks and skate parks in Australia require a helmet. Check whether your local venue also requires wrist guards and pads — many do.
