Surf Coast Roller Skaters - Skating in Jan Juc and Torquay

Roller skating has grown along the Surf Coast in Victoria and now it has it’s own community organisation. Founded in 2020, the Surf Coast Roller Skaters are a community of adventurous, friendly skaters facing fears and building confidence through roller fitness, dance skating and events.

Laura Issell, a Jan Juc local is behind the community organisation running group classes for adults and kids weekly in Torquay. Roller skating is an addictive hobby, but to Laura it’s so much more, “roller skating gives you a reason to get out of bed! I love the shared passion and connection it brings. I love that you can push yourself to your limits through fears & how it builds confidence! I love the feeling of freedom, speed & movement. I love so many things about roller skating that the list can go on and on!”.

To see what the Surf Coast Roller Skaters have to offer, head over to the SCRS website (link below) to book in a term of classes, purchase a gift voucher for a friend, look at memberships and class info and generally check out the radness that is the Surf Coast Roller Skaters.

Surf Coast Roller Skaters

As the middle of summer is here Laura has a few events planned for skaters on the coast. On Friday the 15th of January the SCRS are hosting a free group skate on the Esplanade at Torquay beginning at 7pm. The theme is ‘denim’. Whether you’re from the Surf Coast or Melbourne, this is a great opportunity to meet the skaters who live and breath on the Surf Coast. Come down and have cruise along the beach. It’s So Cal vibes but the Aussie version!
